Quality Profiles for Longitudinal Studies

The National Strategy Committee is concerned to implement systems and procedures for systematic monitoring and evaluation of the quality of longitudinal studies. The existence of such systems and procedures should assist with the long-term goals of maintaining and improving quality standards. We have been developing a framework for longitudinal survey quality which will serve as the reference point for systems and procedures that will subsequently be set up. We have also been drafting a template for a longitudinal survey quality profile. This draws upon the general framework and sets out a structured list of aspects of study design and implementation that should be recorded in a standard report known as a Quality Profile. Both these documents are at the draft stage and any comments on their content would be welcome. They are provided here for information and should not be taken as a statement of NSC policy.

We have also drafted a quality profile for the British Household Panel Survey, to serve as an exempler. Again, this is provided here for information and the contents are subject to change.
